Toms ADHD Girlies Cleaning Playlist
Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Wut up blog. Today I woke everyone up at 7 a.m., and after getting ready for the day, we had oatmeal for breakfast. The pineapple we were looking forward to was rotten, but Tessa discovered she does in fact like oatmeal! Also today was the first day we had music on the boat!!!! As we listened to Tom's uh interesting playlist, we did our chores for the morning, and then we raised the anchor, went around a headland, and picked up a mooring. If you were wondering if it was difficult, I don't know because I was taking pictures of Megan, Katie, and Sam while they did everything.
After mooring, the certified divers went with Nat for a certified check-out dive to make sure they "knew their stuff and they did (Nat). After their dive, they went on a machete hike, and they saw a goat and hermit crabs. Emi's sunburn continues to get more red every day. While they did that, the uncertified divers went to Ocean Star and had class on the deck with Zoe and Perry on recreational dive planning (RDP). We took a quick quiz and then ate lunch. Chicken salad and PB & Js for lunch today, and they were good. Instead of waiting to swim after eating, we went swimming; Francesca did her first backflip off the boat, and TJ just sort of floated for two hours. After drying off, it started pouring rain, and we jumped right back into the water before setting up our gear for diving!
In our small diving groups, we headed back to Gintini and got ready to complete open water certification dives one and two! Being underwater and swimming with fish and being submerged in the ocean was honestly indescribable. All I could think about the whole time was how the coral looked like Oceana from Barbie in a Mermaid Tale. It was the coolest experience to be able to do that, and I can't wait to keep diving!
After diving, we broke down our gear, and I introduced everyone to eating dry Ramen. We then disconnected from the mooring, left the dive spot, and moved back into the bay. We anchored, and I set the bridle while Tessa used the control and Megan went with Nat to the bow to see if the bridle was getting tight and there was no bouncing, so it was set correctly. After that, we realized we left the diving flag up, so Tom taught me how to bring it down and put it away. Then Emi and Julia made chili for dinner, and let me tell you, I hate chili, but that dinner was one of the best ones I've had here. It was so good, and we talked about our days, and the dinners on Gintini are the highlight of my day. It honestly makes me feel like I am making lifelong friends and getting to have a "family style" dinner and recap all of our days and get to know each other is so awesome. To end dinner, we did squeeze and talked about our craziest scar stories.
After dinner, we cleaned up, and I again took pictures of everyone and did nothing. We listened to a playlist that Tom selected called ADHD Girlies Cleaning Playlist. With the Tini Girl all clean, the uncertified students took our RDP final and Open Water Final Exam. The certified people just hung out, and Sofia provided us with beautiful background vocals. Katie, Sam, Megan, and I finally got to take an ocean shower, and it was so cold but so nice!! Finally, I started to write this blog, and most of the boat stayed with me and talked while I wrote. Now I'm ending the blog listening to Room Where it Happens from Hamilton. Every day was better than the last, and I can't wait for you all to hear about what we do tomorrow!
