New Beginnings
Location: Savannah Bay, Virgin Gorda, BVI
We awoke this morning in West End to a full crew of shipmates, the last two of which arrived in the late evening hours yesterday. Our day started with an early morning jump in the crystal Caribbean Sea and a swim test, the first step to becoming SCUBA certified. Soon we were slathering syrup on our French Toast and getting ready for a program policy and agreements meeting that would run most of the morning. By lunchtime, the adventure had begun. We were off the dock and underway for Savannah Bay on the island of Virgin Gorda. En route, we took in the sights of the BVI, completed diving knowledge reviews, and learned to steer the boat and stand bow watch. After negotiating the entrance to the bay, we dropped anchor, showered in the sea, and enjoyed dinner accompanied by a magnificent sunset. It was a great way to begin what is sure to be an amazing adventure.
