Mate
Andy grew up on the waters of Puget Sound in Washington State, spending summers exploring the San Juan Islands, straights, and Hood Canal. Professionally, he has had a career in international sports administration and coaching in the United States, Singapore, and Saint Lucia. Alongside his program leadership work with the Saint Lucia Sports Academy and Saint Lucia Olympic Committee, Andy has spent considerable time developing his skills in sailing, diving, and maritime instruction in the Caribbean since 2016. Andy holds powerboat, sailing, and instructor qualifications from IYT and has amassed over 9,000nm in the Caribbean and Puget Sound. He also carries his STCW certificates and holds a PADI Divemaster certification. He has surfed much of the world, including Mexico, Australia, Hawaii, Indonesia, the Caribbean, and the West Coast of the United States. He has been trained in mountaineering leadership and has high-altitude expedition experience up to 19,500 in the Andes. Andy joins the Sea|mester program as Mate on S/Y Vela.
