Marine Science and PADI Diving Instructor
Shelby recently graduated with her PhD in Marine Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
She studied how climate change will impact important recreational, subsistence, and commercial
fisheries species in the state of Alaska. While living on Kodiak Island, she worked closely with NOAA
Fisheries and spent many months working aboard fishing vessels in the Bering Sea and scientific
diving around the Kodiak archipelago. In her free time, she is an EMT/Firefighter and has been in the
fire service for the past 12 years. Shelby is an ActionQuest alumnus and first started diving and sailing
in the British Virgin Islands almost 15 years ago. She recently became a PADI Open Water Scuba
Instructor and is excited to share her passion for scuba diving, sailing, and marine science with
Sea|mester students.
