Captain
Tom grew up on yachts sailing around New Zealand and racing dinghies in his hometown Wellington. Tom has had a dual career working in both the public service and as a professional delivery skipper. In New Zealand he worked for five years for the government negotiating reparations for historical injustices against Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand.
Tom moved to Colombia in 2018 as a New Zealand diplomat to open the New Zealand Embassy where he worked for two years. In 2019 Tom began working for Seamester as 1st Mate on Oceanstar and in 2020 Tom became Captain on Vela for the Indian Ocean program.
Tom holds various sailing qualifications including RYA Yachtmaster Ocean and has amassed over 20,000 nautical miles sailing through the Pacific, Southern Ocean, Indian Ocean and Caribbean.
