Location: Underway to Coco's Keeling
Today started bright and early at 4 am with watch team 2 (mine, the best, obviously) as we all continued our tradition of the sunrise time guessing. Unfortunately, no one won or was close as we awoke to clouds; we had to remember what those were. Watch went by pretty fast, and as soon as we were relieved, we all hopped back in bed to squeeze in a few more hours of sleep. Today, for lunch, Ayden made us some delicious alfredo gnocchi with the help of Audrey and Tom. After lunch and some big waves (rip to one of our salty pit stools), we had Oceanography, learning all about nutrients in our oceans. Following Oceanography, Smash taught seamanship, but Cristian took full advantage of our 15-minute break to pop in some earplugs and an eye mask for a power nap. It was a relaxing afternoon.
Some caught up on some school work and studying, others did laundry, and the best watch team was back on before dinner listening to some great music, specifically Taylor Swift. We all enjoyed Griffin’s question, “So I probably shouldn’t ask this. It’s really dumb. I don’t know if I want to say it, but like with all the guys she’s dated, has anyone ever thought she would if she’s the problem?” The chefs put together another great meal for dinner through the rockiness of the ship; apparently, draining noodles was an adventure. Everyone loves our time change from yesterday, as It’s still light out as we clean up for dinner and get to enjoy the sunset. We’re so excited as we get to be on board as our new home, Vela, makes its first circumnavigation in just a few hours! I can’t believe we are already 1/3 of the way done with our trip. Time really does fly.
Sending so much love to all our family and friends, can’t wait to update soon directly!
