Location: Raja Ampat to Komodo
This morning, I rolled out of bed around 9 am and popped my head out of the chart house companionway. I was pleasantly surprised to see sunny skies, six sails, and 5000 miles on the trip log, with our speed sitting at 9 knots. It has been so nice these past couple of days, and this is also the longest we have been able to consistently sail the entire trip, which Im pretty stoked about. Anyway, though, after that, I came back downstairs and made myself a nice cup of coffee, read my book, and studied a bit for an upcoming yacht master exam. For lunch head chef Iain cheffed up some quesadillas for everyone and it was quite delectable, Id say 10/10. After lunch, the students had a marine bio test and leadership class. I had the afternoon off, which was a nice break, so I took that time to go through some of my favorite pictures of the trip so far to read even more of my book (The Memory Keepers Daughter, if anyone is wondering), and to sit up on the bow spirit. After class was over, Annabelle, Lainey, and Sidney joined me on the bowsprit, and we had some pretty good talks. It was a really nice time.
I love it when the sea state is calm enough to be on the bowsprit underway because it is definitely my favorite spot on the boat. We got called over for dinner after a little while, and then we all went over to enjoy some Mediterranean bowls while the sun was setting, and it was absolutely beautiful. For squeeze tonight, my question was, If you had to be stranded on one of the islands weve been to, which would it be? The most popular answers were Wayag, Palau, Ono, and Kawe. I found it really hard to choose and I was torn between Kawe and Palau, they are both places I really hope I get the chance to go back to someday. With that, this blog marks my last skipper day here on Argo, which is very bittersweet. There are so many things Im going to miss about being here, like being in the middle of the ocean for days at a time, seeing the stars on night watches, showing up to some of the coolest islands in the world, meeting so many new people, diving almost daily, and learning every single day. I am so thankful for my time here on Argo, and I wouldnt change a thing about it. With that, thank you all for reading my final blog & to my friends and family, love and miss you guys.
