Today we woke up at about 11:30-ish to the boat swinging us awake. Some people were lucky to sleep on the low side, including me (Sienna), Avery, however, was on the high side and was thankful for her leecloth keeping her snug in bed. Even though we are well into this trip, many people still do not know how to handle the water-tight doors while underway, as evidenced by their bruises. We all made our way on deck to be greeted by three-meter swells. Ella, B, and Piper prepared falafel bowls with homemade pita for lunch. They were quite delish, and it was a nice switch-up from the usual types of meals. After we cleaned up from lunch (which was very difficult because of the swells pushing the dishy pit all over the deck and splashing the slaties) Logan, Avery, and Zac took the helm. Charlie was the best helmer by far, going 11 knots. After we struck the main staysail, Megan, Sawyer, and I were trying to flake it, but Megan fell, and Ryan caught her. After being told a story about the note cards we were soon going to write for everyone on board, we then had a VHF class with Shane. After class, many people were sleeping, while the watch team was on watch. Except for Niko, who thought it was ok to take a nap on watch. The chefs prepared a delicious dinner of lentil soup. Now everyone is cleaning up from dinne,r and Avery and I are writing the blog.
