Location: Palau
We woke up today still on the deck in Palau. The sounds of the cars were totally foreign after 21 days of hearing nothing but the ocean. Since we are officially done with the passage, we all woke up at the same time today and had a lovely breakfast together, compliments to chef Emily.
We started the day with some classes. Advanced open water diving students did some knowledge reviews, followed by oceanography, where we continued our literature review presentations. Will, Ian, Austin, Emily, and Beck presented today and absolutely killed it.
The rest of the day, we had BA and boat appreciation. We showed Argo some love by doing a super in-depth deep clean. She’s sparkling! A shout out to the heroes of the day- Sidney and Matilda, who took on the task of cleaning the heads. We finished just in time to welcome provisions. We all were thrilled to see fresh fruit for the first time in a while. Everyone enjoyed the apples, even Casey, who is actually allergic to apples, we learned. Don’t worry, folks at home! She is completely fine and determined that the apple was delicious and worth it.
We moved the boat to a lovely little spot with an incredible view. After a long day of putting our blood, sweat, and tears into cleaning Argo (heavy emphasis on the sweat), we all enjoyed jumping into the water. We swam until the sun started to set and then headed up for dinner. After today’s sneak peek of swimming in Palau, everyone is thrilled to SCUBA tomorrow.
