Location: Pigeon island, Guadeloupe
The crew rose early this morning to set sail and make passage to Pigeon Island, Guadeloupe. The wind was behind us for the first few hours and sea conditions were calm, making for an excellent sail. Underway, the crew practiced conventional navigation using land bearings and sextants to determine our location. On arrival, we quickly set up “Camp Ocean Star” and gathered our dive gear for our first dive at the Jacques Cousteau Marine Park, a world class dive site complete with an underwater statue of the famous marine explorer flashing the “OK” signal underwater. We finished up the day with dinner, an Oceanography class and a spectacular sunset.
