Location: Underway to Komodo

This morning, those of us on watch team 3 had a watch from 4-8, and we had a fun surprise when we came up on deck. There was a brown booby bird sleeping on top of the chart house! It was decided by watch team 2 that his name is Garfunkel. He had been aboard since watch team 1’s watch almost six hours before. He hung out on our watch for a while, but right as the sun was rising, Garfunkel decided to say goodbye. He took off and did a loop around the boat before flying off into the sunrise. It was majestic. After we got off watch, we still had a few hours to sleep before lunch, which is always nice. At 11:30, Luna came through with a singing wake-up, which was lovely. Ty, Noa, and Ben prepared some delicious beef burrito bowls with cilantro lime rice for lunch. After lunch, we started our Boat Appreciation (BA) to prep for arriving at Komodo. We started in the salon, taking inventory of all our dry food items and cleaning all the bilges, then we moved into the cabins, where the same inventory and cleaning occurred. While that was happening, those on deck gave a thorough scrub of the deck and put the sail covers on the jibs and main sail. In total, we were doing BA for 4 hours today. It was a long day, but everyone pulled through, and we will be able to finish cleaning tomorrow. After a long day of BA, we had chilli bowls for dinner, which were great. It is so sad that our last big passage is over tomorrow. I have loved being on passage and getting to sail again. Knowing that this will be our last multi-day passage has made it easier to enjoy every little moment. I can’t wait to see the Komodo dragons!
Shout out to all the first 40-dayers!! Heeeeyyyyy guys! Miss you all so much and wish you were here with us.
Also, to my family, if you are reading this: Hey guys, miss you! Hi Leo!!
