Today marks a very special day for the crew of Ocean Star. On this Sunday, August 2nd, the crew spent their first uninterrupted afternoon on the beach. Footballs were thrown, Frisbees tossed, and books read, but most importantly, there was no work to be done. The relaxing afternoon came after the passing of all students into the ranks of PADI Advanced Open Water SCUBA divers, which seems kind of comical to some.
The morning was spent bird-watching in the lagoon of Barbuda. The squad witnessed the beginning of frigate birds’ mating season with local guides. Nobody really expected bird watching to be as relaxing and engaging as it was, and a good time was had by all. On the way to the tour, we even saw the tracks of local turtles beginning to nest. We will be prowling the beaches tonight to see if we can witness the turtle action live. All in all, it was a day spent unwinding and preparing for our late-night passage to St Barth’s, where everyone anxiously awaits learning to surf and even more beach time.
