Location: Anse de Colombier
Early this morning, a few of the crew made their way to shore to hike up and watch the sunrise from the top of one of the peaks on the island. They had an amazing time, apparently “something they will never forget.” We enjoyed oatmeal for breakfast upon their return and then pulled up the anchor and made our way over the choppy seas to Anse de Colombier. We had a COM class in the morning and then feasted on Gabe’s scalloped potatoes. After lunch, a few of us hiked over to Anse de Flamands to have some fun body surfing in the huge waves. Others stayed back to work on school work as the trip nears an end and due dates are approaching. The afternoon was pretty squally and cloudy, and dinner was enjoyed around the cockpit. This was followed by an oceanography class on marine legislation, and we then moved Ocean Star around to the next bay to avoid some of the wind and waves we’d been experiencing that afternoon. We are now safely anchored near Gustavia, and the weather has calmed.
