Location: Dominica

We had a very Caribbean start to our day. A river expedition was on the schedule in the morning, but little was known other than the local guide’s name and meeting time. As the expedition was postponed at the last minute, the students had the chance to learn about marine species identification and corals (thanks, Aidan!). Right after, a couple of wooden rowing boats picked us up at the Indian River mouth for a fun boat trip into the junglethe perfect plan to wrap up our stay in the beautiful island of Dominica. Students were busy collecting water samples along the river, but had the chance to take a break midway at Calypso’s house.
Back in the boat, food was waiting for us (thanks, Aidan and Zoe!), and the afternoon was packed with seamanship lectures. Our contact in North Dominica treated us to pizza for dinner, and the crew is getting ready for the first movie night aboard Ocean Star. Everyone is looking forward to going back to regular 7 am wakeups tomorrow morning and getting the boat ready for another passage!
