Location: Mauritius
With a scheduled late start to the day, many of us took the opportunity to go for a long morning run, grab a coffee, and have some time exploring the town before we head out of Mauritius and begin making our way to South Africa! Once we all met in the cockpit at 8:30, Emma kicked the day off with an unbelievable breakfast of smoothie bowls with a huge amount of fresh fruit – something we knew to enjoy extra before the days at sea ahead. We then prepped the boat for passage, taking sail covers off, putting halyards off, and of course getting fresh (bed) sheets to start the passage off on a nice, clean note. It was a bit of a grey day, which matched the mixed emotions of leaving Mauritius to head to our final country of the semester! The rest of the day was pretty standard, with classes following lunch and our final ice cream runs after dinner. Highlights of the day included Henry making his famous naan, learning how to do running fixes in NavMaster, our final grocery run, and another stunning sunset! We will miss Mauritius a ton, but cant wait to see what the next few weeks have in store.
