Location: Madeira
I woke up the crew this morning in Madeira, and we fuelled up for our big day with some delicious frittatas made by Gabby, Will, and Liam. Everyone got their bags ready, PB and Js packed, and put on our bathing suits in preparation for our most exciting adventure yet: Canyoning!!! It was a new experience for everyone, and you could feel the excitement as everyone got their wetsuits and boots on at the top of a mountain. We walked about 20 minutes to the first waterfall and were instructed on how to repel ourselves downward. I was so excited I jumped up to be the first one to go. It was crazy, scary, and soooo awesome!! I landed right in the freezing cold water, which actually felt good after the trek up there. Each waterfall led downward to another even cooler waterfall. As we became more comfortable, we were able to jump right off the rocks into the little pools of water, and other areas were slippery enough that we could slide down them like a water slide. Everyone was having the best time, and it was honestly the coolest thing Ive ever done. At the very end, we reached a huge rock, and all jumped or slid down the 6-meter drop. It was so much fun for all of us to experience something new and unique together, as well as support and cheer each other on through it all.
On the ride back, I took a nice nap on Gretatata, and we all got dropped off on shore to grab snacks, pizza, and some gifts for our Secret Santa. I was happy to catch up with my sister, Bella :). After putting away the provisioned food that Stich and Sean had spent the morning collecting, we had a big ocean shower party. It was a lot of fun watching Daisy, Xavi, and Rob backflip off the bowsprit and practice their death dives. I love ocean showers almost as much as Caroline, and thats A LOT. After a yummy dinner and squeeze, the argonauts are now getting ready for marine bio. Best day everrrr!!!!
Love and miss ya, Mom, Dad, and BB!
