Location: Antigua
Today was our first day of racing in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta. There wasnt much wind, and Ocean Star prefers heavier wind rather than lighter wind to sail fast, being a heavy steel boat. But anywho, we had fun nonetheless. We started at 7:30. We got off the dock and went around the corner to the race start. Our start was at 10:40, starting with the other tall ships and schooners and all the other smaller boats starting earlier. We raced for a little while at full sail! The light wind was not helping us. I removed all the dive tanks, dinghies, and other weights from Ocean Star deck to try and lighten us as much as possible, but as Ocean Star weighs 67 tons dry, this wasnt going to help too much. We decided to cut our losses and head back for some fun on the dock. We started by celebrating Zoe with a marble sailboat cake and the honorary birthday sash. We hope you had an awesome day, Zoe. (: We went to happy hour put on by Antigua Classics and then enjoyed dinner ashore. I finally, after months, got to enjoy my favorite chicken tikka masala from Indian Summer, my favorite restaurant in Antigua.
