Hey everyone!! Skipper Eric finally gets to write a blog for the first time this trip, but it happens to be on the very last day of the voyage. Started the day off like no other, waking everyone up a whopping 15 minutes later than usual. Talk about sleeping in on the last day. For breakfast, we had some delicious croissants, chocolate-filled pastries, and some fresh baguettes. As we wrapped up our final breakfast, we did our last squeeze circle, sharing fun memories from the trip and a challenge to fit the whole crew into a tiny room called the focsle. As we crammed 19 people into a room that fit 4, we realized we could probably fit more if we really wanted to. We took a great picture, and then everyone bolted out of the room because we all started sweating 15 seconds after going inside. As we passed the time by telling stories, we realized it was about time that we started saying goodbye, for it was the closing time for the 20-day voyage. Id argue we were the best crew this boat has seen and not being biased at all.
It has been a pleasure being on this boat for the past twenty days. I know for a fact that the crew, my fellow students, and I are bonded in friendship, hardships, and maybe a little bit of suffering (seasickness will take down even the strongest of us). Since it is sad to say goodbye, I know that we will attempt to stay in touch as we all head back home. For any University of Tennessee fans out there, Go Vols!!!
Skipper Eric signing off.
