Location: Underway to Almerimar
Even though today on Vela, we were underway today, it was quite an interesting day. To start off all of our days, around noon, we crossed from the eastern hemisphere into the western! After our exciting cross, we were given some delicious lunch from our head chef, Anna. Didn’t know until today that tofu could be good! Following lunch, we were given quite the special treat from Skyler, who, in an attempt to get his Airpods back, was given the task of doing the worm while also singing “I’m a little teapot.” After Skyler’s little performance, we went straight into Oceanography, where we learned why the Mediterranean Sea is so salty! After Oceanography, we went straight into leadership class which was the highlight of a lot of people’s day. Today in leadership, we were given the task of choosing a leader (real or fictional) and arguing why our leader is better than others. Just to name a few of the leaders we had today: Luke Skywalker, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Captain America, Bob Ross, and Iron Man. As you can guess, it was very entertaining to see this go down, and watching Luke Skywalker, Captain America, and Iron Man go at it, was quite comical.
After that great class, we had an amazing dinner of Swedish meatballs straight from Anna’s homeland. Let’s just say I think we all have a little bit more appreciation for Sweden now. Following the incredible dinner, we celebrated Alison’s birthday! Now we can say we have 32 adults aboard Vela (sorry, Cooper)! To celebrate Alison’s birthday, we had some delicious cake, and sadly this marks the end of three straight birthdays and three straight days of desert :(. At least it was fun while it lasted! Tomorrow we should be arriving at Almerimar early in the morning. That’s all I have for now! Til tomorrow!
