Location: Labaun Bajo, Indonesia
Hi everyone! Lina here! We went to Labuan Bajo today, a kind of port town in the Komodo Islands. We spent the day exploring and eating gelato. There are so many cool coffee shops with the best coffee I’ve had since being here. The restaurants are beautiful and delicious, and they blend in perfectly with all of the fried food in glass cases that line some of the streets. There was one restaurant with a view of the entire harbor, and some of us went to a healthy food place for lunch. There were homemade sushi and rainbow poke bowls, and I got some homemade udon noodles. The town was the biggest we’ve been to since Bali, and it seemed out of place to see cars and motorcycles on bigger paved streets. When we arrived in town, around 11 in the morning, all of the kids had just gotten out of school for lunch. They were all in their school uniforms and chasing each other down the street. At one point, I ran to catch up with some of my friends, and a bunch of them started running alongside me. There were kids playing soccer in an open field, and they were insanely good. Sadly, they weren’t too happy about Zoe doing cartwheels on their field. We also did a lesson in leadership today, and we learned which color leadership style we have. I’m a yellow, which means I like to lead by example, take initiative, and jump into action. There were also some blues, which have creative big ideas, some reds, which are more logically and analytically minded, and some greens, which are known to be good with people, so they bring groups together and make sure everyone is heard. Try to guess which ones your kids are 🙂
We ended the excursion with a delicious dinner. The chicken and rice were some of the best I’ve ever had, and there was watermelon feta salad, sliders, and most of the boys got steak. After dinner, some of us wanted to go dancing, so we found a rooftop party space. We all had some seltzer, and because there was no one else there, the DJ let us use his controller. Griffin saved the day and taught us all how to use it, which was really fun. Now I’m probably going to play some gin and backgammon before bed. Lots of love to everyone reading this.
