Location: Cocos Keeling
Its been a while since Ive done one of these and today was definitely an interesting day. Today started with me waking up in my hammock, which I bought in Bali, to a bunch of people on deck exercising. After walking past that and fighting to take down my hammock, I ended up borrowing Emmas phone and speaker to do wake-ups since all the music I downloaded had expired a few days prior. But I ended up waking up everyone to some good old country music, not sea shanties, but theyll do. From there, I gathered everyone up for breakfast, which was a really good maple cinnamon banana muffin bake.
After breakfast we got ready to go to shore to do a beach cleanup with the Tangaroa Blue Foundation. Unfortunately, those plans ended up falling through cause the ferry that the representative would have been coming on broke down and couldnt make it. So instead, we ended up going on a nice nature walk, and I ended up enjoying some really good coconut. Eventually, we had to leave the island to go back for lunch, which was a great Mediterranean bowl.
Once we were done with lunch, we gathered for oceanography, where we learned about the transmission of energy. From there, we would prepare to go back to the island in two groups, where one would have some free time on the island and the other would go do a drift snorkel. I ended up being in the group that got to have free time on the island first, and I would find myself sitting on a floating platform where my group would spend most of the time shoving each other off the platform and playing never have I ever, which I won. After spending about an hour on the island, we would be picked up to go on the drift dive. We would end up drifting three times, and I would see a school of Steephead Parrotfish and two Nurse Sharks. After drifting for a long time, we would head back to Vela for dinner, which was some really filling veggie green curry and naan for the second time in two days, and it was just as good as the previous day. The day would end with me asking if you could have one wish, what would it be, and having the next person come up with a negative effect for said wish, resulting in some strange and rather harsh negative effects. But today, despite not going to plan, I still greatly enjoyed myself.
