Location: Underway to Sumbawa
Today started off very early with wake-ups at 4:30am!! Everyone rolled out of bed, and jumped into the dinghys for a sunrise hike in Komodo National Park!! It was still dark when we started our hike. The trek started out pretty flat, then immediately got steep and rocky but we all eventually made it to the top. When we got to the top it was still dark, but you could see the pink/purple sky in the horizon which was super pretty!! We decided to do a moment of silence which ended up lasting a pretty long time, while the sun was rising. And then all of a sudden the ground started shaking it was pure silence and it felt like the mountain (hill) we were on was swaying and shaking, and Shane broke the silence and said does anyone feel the earthquake everyone started laughing as the ground was still shaking, and then everything went back to normal. We are all ok and safe!! All the girls started taking cute sunrise pictures for an hour lol!! Once the sun was up we started our trek back down to Argo, where we saw lots of Jahovan deer, and one even had a wig, It had a massive dried bush stuck on its antlers which was super funny. The second we got back to the boat we immediately started passage prep as quick as we could so we could get to our next destination Pulau Moyo sooner!! At this point it was only 9am and the day was still young!! Today was the first real day of student led Passage which was super exciting shout out Watch team 2!! Everett our student engineer did some stuff in the engineer room, the navigators Isaac, Clam, and Max came up with our route. While Sadie our first mate helped lead students on deck, and lift the anchor!! Noelle the skipper was helping out everywhere! And Sophie and I the program managers came up with the plan for the next few days! Rhianna, Issac and Harrison cheffed up some pasta for lunch, it was very good! We had class, and watch the rest of the afternoon and saw some dolphins jumping out of the water!! Everyone who wasnt on watch slept, or faffed around until dinner which was potato carrot soup, and Naan, thanks to the bread makers nacho, and jack!! Our evening ended with a beautiful sunset, and we are all excited and eager to swim with whale sharks in a few days!!
Ps Mom, Bubbie, Ellie, Sophie, Simmone, I miss you guys, and cant wait to see you soon!!
