We had a really thrilling race today! Adrenaline pumping excitement! Well, no, not really. There wasn’t even a breath of wind. We had a good starting position when the race committee began the start sequence. However, due to the lack of wind and the strong current, we found ourselves getting pulled away from the line. After a couple of hours of drifting, we decided to drop anchor so that if the wind picked up, we wouldn’t be even farther from the line. After a few more hours and dozens of boats calling it quits, the committee called off our race.
Interestingly, we were awarded second place for the day without ever crossing the finish line. Of course, after we were back at the anchorage, the wind picked up to twenty knots. We’ll all be praying for wind in the days to come.
