Location: Raja Ampat to Komodo

Hello everyone, and welcome to the DAY 60 BLOG! Today marked the halfway point for the 40-dayers and the 75% mark for us 80-day peeps. Only 20 days left! This means only one full rotation left on the job wheel, which also means the first of the last of our daily jobs has begun. Tomorrow, I will be the head chef for the very last time at Argo. 🙁 Today, we said goodbye to Wayag, which has been, without a doubt, the most beautiful place that has ever graced my eyeballs. I know for sure I will be back before I die, and I firmly believe you all need to move it to the top of your bucket lists. But let’s back up a bit. Today started off with a breakfast of pineapple, orange, rice, and beans, and then a group of people hopped in the dinghies for one last reef frolicking session. I stayed on the boat to do laundry and work on an essay that is due tonight (eek). I also found a blue-spotted stingray on the beach. Then, once everybody was back on Argo, we enjoyed some of Gabe’s famous Okinomiyaki and then prepped for our passage. For those of you at home, this means things like checking our navigation lights, taking off sail covers, ratcheting the dinghies to the deck, storing dive gear, attaching jack lines that we clip into at night, lashing and storing loose items, checking the hydraulics, charting our course, and SO MUCH MORE.

While this was going on, Kylie and I took our drones out to get some last-minute shots of Argo from the air. Funnily enough, just after we finished, our new homie David came to us from another boat on a dinghy and handed us a flash drive with more footage of Argo from his own personal drone! Thanks, David. With fresh drone pics and a boat full of eager sailors, we raised anchor and, with Kackie watching the reef from up the rig, very carefully exited the channel toward open seas. Now, we are underway for the last multi-day passage of the entire trip. And we’re going to Komodo!!! Ahead, there be dragons. And also more epic diving, hiking, and unreal anchorages (and maybe whale sharks). So stay tuned. The next time you will hear from me, it will be DAY 80!!!!! AHHHHHHH
