Well, we have made it to Emily’s favorite day. Day 6…7… and boy was it full of fun surprises. Watch team 2 was woken up for the 8-12 with reports of snowfall. Thatcher Bryson, Sabrina, and Maria pulled some ice off the side of the freezer to sprinkle over Ben, Jem, Cameron, Oscar, Fish, Samantha, and Teagan for wake-ups. Though maybe not appreciated so much at the moment, the cool ice was later a hot topic as the Caribbean sun shone bright today. On watch, we decided that there had been a severe lack of shenanigans on board, and Jem decided to take things into his own hands. The water gun that has been living at the foot of my bed since we departed Tenerife was ready to make its debut. The plan was to sneakily spray people as they came up on deck, but we found we were not too sneaky with Alexa and Hailey not being fooled, though we did get Charlie.
The morning flew by, trying to surprise everyone who came on deck, and soon lunch time was upon us. As delicious as lunch was, the excitement of lunch came back to the water gun. This time, the target was Nick. For those who don’t know, Jem and Nick have an ongoing water war stemming back to the days when Nick was Jem’s deckie. Hiding behind his fellow crew, Jem would sneakily spray Nick from across the cockpit, then hand it off to evade detection. This process went on for all of lunch, with Nick struggling to find evidence that it was coming from his number 1 suspect. It eventually turned into everyone passing around the water gun until Nacho was caught in the act of spraying Nick.
With the excitement of lunch over, the crew went down below to learn about marine mammals in marine biology and to take a practice nav master exam. For the rest of the afternoon, watch team 1 was on the 2-6, which made it the perfect time for watch team 2 to prank them back. Tying a mesh bag with a deck towel onto the fishing line, calls of “fish on” were shouted below to get all of watch team 1 on deck. With Bryson and Aidan on the line and Emily filming the events, we safely recovered our bag and all got a good laugh about the ‘fish’ we caught. With the evening winding down, Rachel, Sam, and Luca sent up taco bowls for dinner, and we learned that there are a surprising number of people who prefer the middle piece of brownies on board.

P.S.
Hey Dad, it’s Aidan! I hope today has been a great day! I am so proud to be your son, and to be able to have learned from you all these years and counting. You make an outstanding brother to your sister, husband to your wife, and father to Sterling and me. Happy Birthday, talk soon! – Love Aidan
