Hello, Esteemed Stakeholders and possibly other people,
Today was day 5 (?) of Landmester, and it started out with classes. Well, actually, before that, some people elected to wake up early and hit the local bakery/cafe for breakfast, while others decided to sleep in.
For our classes, we first had our long-delayed Oceanography Research Project presentations in the staff hotel room, which all went smoothly. Afterward, due to cooking, we decided to have our Nautical Science class in the boy’s bedroom (henceforth referred to as Boy City). It was interesting to have classes in Boy City, two feet away from my bed, while we learned how to use VHF radios. At one point, a group of people went to another room so we could talk to them with the VHF radio, and shenanigans ensued.
For our afternoon, we went to Mon Choisy Beach to do some dinghy sailing! I was in a dinghy with Charlie, and we had a great time flying across the water. Everyone agreed it was one of our best excursions yet – if not the best one. It’s really cool to see everything we’ve learned on Argo translated onto smaller boats. Unfortunately, at one point, Charlie said we were jibing, and I misinterpreted it as we were tacking. We ended up flipping the boat, but it was okay. One other ship, which consisted of Ben, Bodhi, and Travis, also flipped, and Travis flew through the jib and tore it into pieces. So it goes(?). The owner, Klaus, was very kind and even gave me a sick poster for free. He ended up coming back to our hotel to sell some more merch to other students.
The day ended with dinner and squeeze, after which the boys played Super Smash Bros Ultimate, ate snacks and cereal, and had fun until we went to bed. Living here on land really feels like freshman year of college, to be honest. I’ll miss our short Landmester.
See ya in 19 days!

NOTE: We’ve had some technical difficulties posting our blogs. We had been missing the blogs for day 30 (Allie I), 44 (Amanda M), 49 (Allie I), 51 (Travis), and 52 (Gabe), which are now all online! Check them out to see what we’ve been up to – especially to Allie’s friends and family, who may have missed 2 of 3 of her long-winded blogs.
