Location: Santa Cruz, Tenerife
Hello again! After a fun passage from Agadir, we arrived in Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Since we had watch the night before, we had time to sleep until about 10. After wake-ups, we began putting the boat to bed. As usual, due to the number of people and the variety of tasks, it was a madhouse on board. After that and customs, we headed straight to the town. A few of us were searching for a little piece of home, so naturally, we stopped at McDonalds. After my delicious fries and shake, we split up. James and Eduardo went back to the boat to rest while Jesse and Lukas went to a fancy restaurant where Jesse purchased uncooked ribs and ate them. I went with Mac to explore the town. We rented small electric scooters so we could cover more ground. We eventually made it to a park that looked like a rainforest.
We were all tired after this short shore venture, so we headed back to the boat to shower and nap. I had planned on writing my essay during this time. This goal was short-lived, however, because right as I began working, James came to me with a football in hand. We played football for a few hours before dinner, making spectacular catches and channeling our inner Mahomes the whole time. During that time, Ben emerged from the depths of the chart house, and we had an intelligent conversation about the different types of fighting in sports. He is a big rugby fan, but Im doing my best to convince him to get into basketball. We finished up the day getting some incredible burgers at a local place all together. After stuffing ourselves with these massive burgers, we then had to work to put all the provisions away. There is so much food on this boat. It is incredible. This Atlantic passage is starting to feel more real every day.
Anyway, thats it from Vela for today. Love you.
