Today we woke up to the beautiful sight of the quaint French town of St. Pierre with the looming Mt. Pele behind it. The morning began with another Nautical Science class where the shipmates built up their knowledge of navigation. Once the school work was done, all the students shuffled off the ship to tour St. Pierre, where they found their first taste of oven fresh baguette, genuine French roast coffee and every detectible pastry you could imagine. The afternoon was also spent visiting the small museum up the hill which vividly showed in pictures the explosion of Mt Pele in 1902 and what it did to the town once dubbed Little Paris’. Once back aboard we finished the day with a marine biology class and delicious dinner.
