Location: Antigua
Our last beautiful morning in Antigua began with a classic Ben: Good morning, good morning, good morning. We had French toast made by Brooke and Dean Walsh, packed up our bunks, and stripped the beds to be sent out for laundry. We walked the laundry to Sam and Daves, where the woman working almost cried as she saw the heaps of dirty boat linens. We then ventured to Nelsons landing, where we shopped, enjoyed local juices and cuisine, and watched Ananya from India and England row into the harbor solo after crossing the Atlantic to become the first woman of color to do so. Lauren, Dean Walsh, and I got a picture with her and let her know how inspiring and incredible she was (She hopped in the water after her rudder when it fell off the boat in the middle of the Atlantic and saved her boat!). We are all so sad to leave Antigua and our beloved Vela and her incredible crew, but we have lasting memories of Richies jokes, Jamess banjo, and sailing stories to last a lifetime.
