Location: Santa Cruz, Tenerife

The day started much the same as yesterday, just flip-flopped. The hikers, Mac, Michelle, Ruby, Elis, Grace^2, Amy, Max, Boston, Cat, Talia, Watson, and Audrey, were gingerly awakened at 6:30 to eat a lovely oatmeal bake prepared by Dan & co. They used their leglets as they went from Chinamada to Punta del Hidalgo. The hike, I am told, was beautiful. It was a former linen route, and it was mostly downhill. In Punta del Hidalgo, they got some coffee, swam in the ocean, and explored until the taxi brought them home to Vela again.

Meanwhile, Claire, Emmer, Theo, Luke, Daniel, James, Eliza, Lukas, Chloe, Lillian, Brendal, Eduardo, Jesse, and Mac took their first scuba diving in a few weeks. I was told it was cold but delightful! The highlights were the guide, Victor (shout out to Squatina Sub Dive School), and the excellent showers post-dive at the shop.

Meanwhile, on board for the day, Tom and I did some maintenance tasks like checking the impellor for one of our generators (she was happy), changing a racor filter for the main engine (just a bit dirty), checking the separate filter (it looks good), squirreling some things away (deep in a bilge), and taking on some fuel for our ATLANTIC CROSSING.

Once everyone returned from their various adventures, they had some free time around Santa Cruz before an Oceanography class. While the students were in class, Emmer and I provisioned veggies and meat for the crossing. Some highlights of that excursion included 190 onions, 120 kilos of chicken, and some electric scooters to return us to Vela.

After dinner, we had some free time to do some final errands, like a snack run, final gelato, and listening to the Reggaeton festival on the other side of the dock. All in all, it was a successful and jam-packed final day in Tenerife.
