Location: Deshaies, Guadeloupe
After our night dive at Pain du Sucre last night, we all headed for bed, ready for whatever today would bring us. Soon after breakfast we hoisted sails and left the rock behind, bound for Deshaies and Pigeon Island off the west coast of Guadeloupe. The Marine Park here is a popular dive site and in fact was one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite dives. Just a few minutes into our dive here we realized why – lots of large fish, invertebrates and coral that was far healthier than in many of the other places we’ve dived. At the end of the dive a statue of Jacques Cousteau sits in 40 feet of water and as we swam by the shipmates gave him a high five. Back on board, we got the boat ready for our passage tonight to Antigua.
