Location: Deshaies, Guadeloupe
After our night dive at Pain du Sucre last night, we all headed for bed, ready for whatever today would bring us. Soon after breakfast, we hoisted sails and left the rock behind, bound for Deshaies and Pigeon Island off the west coast of Guadeloupe. The Marine Park here is a popular dive site and, in fact, was one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite dives. Just a few minutes into our dive here, we realized why – lots of large fish, invertebrates, and coral that was far healthier than in many of the other places we’ve dived. At the end of the dive, a statue of Jacques Cousteau sat in 40 feet of water, and as we swam by, the shipmates gave him a high five. Back on board, we got the boat ready for our passage tonight to Antigua.
