Location: Komodo National Park, Indonesia
Hi, hello everyone! Today was sick. My day started at a beautiful 1:30 a.m., thanks to the anchor watch schedule. I went back to sleep around 3:15 a.m. when it was over and was woken up approximately 2 hours later when we raised anchor and went to see some real-life dragons. On our way, we saw some dolphins jumping by the bow of the ship. It was so cool, and the water was so clear. We all went to Rinca island to see the Komodo dragons, or as Smash likes to call them, “dagons”. Everyone had a blast, and we were all very appreciative of the air con they had on full blast in the museum. Anyway, these dragons are no joke. Some of them were significantly bigger than me. Apparently, the males are bigger than the females, and they live longer.
I accept that, though, because we learned that females have all the sass. I think Steph’s favorite part of Dragon Island was the water buffalos, though. While we were in the park, our guide took us up to this viewpoint, where we all had a full photoshoot. Nico got a steezy park ranger shirt. In case you haven’t heard, some of the boys have started a workout club onboard. This is one of our many clubs. There are also book clubs, journal clubs, and my personal favorite, nap club. As skipper, I also added a mandatory swim time to the schedule so everyone had a chance to jump into the beautiful waters here and maybe indulge in a nice salty ocean shower, which, by the way, has made everyone’s hair super sticky. After all that, Steph got out all the lab equipment on the boat for our classes. This will come as no shock to my parents, but she had to seriously convince me to let her put the microscope away, especially after Ayden went and collected plankton from the ocean in our super cool plankton net for us all to look at. Tomorrow is my first day as head chef, and I’m very worried about that, to be honest, not necessarily for myself but for everyone else.
Speaking of cooking as well, Zoe was the head chef today, and she made chicken nuggets and french fries for dinner. I think she was everyone’s favorite person after that dinner. Luckily, Finn has a speaker, so there will most definitely be a dance party going on in the galley (kitchen). The last major point for today, other than crushing Ayden in chess, was bonding with Tom over both of us having Rhodesian Ridgeback pups. Leo and Tai!!! It’s obviously then been decided that ridgebacks are the best dogs. Finally, for my parents, I love you guys, but I’m having the time of my life, and I think I want to stay here with these people forever. I’m already planning a vacation to visit Siena in Ireland. Wish you guys could be experiencing this in a better way than through my spotty connection. Lots of love to all <3 Catch ya next time.
