Location: Mauritius

Hello followers,

Welcome to the run-down of our island tour day!

Now I know what youre wondering how are those apartments going? Well, one massive benefit of being situated in separate apartments is the liberty of having breakfast with just ones roommates. The students certainly took advantage of this opportunity – each room having a nice sleep-in before our team meeting at 8 am. After the meeting, the gang was picked up by a charismatic tour guide called Robin. Robin shuttled the team (with Juliette riding shotgun) for 40 minutes to arrive at their first stop, which was a ship-building museum in Floreal. After a tour of the scale model workshop bedazzled the students, they passed through the gift shop, and some purchased small items of memorabilia. With the first half of the morning out of the way, the students ventured forth for volcanic mountainous scenery and delectable ice cream (quite the dramatic change of pace). Now, since arriving in Mauritius, the opportunities to grab ice cream have been plentiful.

Consequently, our amateur gelato connoisseurs standards have risen quite high sadly, it has been reported by Hannah and Travis that the ice creams were both sub-par and over-priced. Though the ice cream mission was a flop, the day was soon to be rescued by the tours penultimate destination – an adventure park! With go-karting, high-line bridge walks, and the freedom to set your own course, the students indulged in all the pleasures of the park, and each found their own thing to do. Amanda even found some Tortoises to hang out with! (see attached images). Following their escapades at the adventure park, the gang visited a Hindu temple and then immersed themselves in the view of the Alexandria waterfall. This all came before an unusually late lunch at 3 pm at one of Robins favorite Indian restaurants. After a long drive back to the apartment complex, the group hopped in the pool and showered off before dinner – which was a feta and bulgar wheat salad prepared by Will and Meg (who had taken the day off to run errands, hit the gym, and relax). All in all, the day was a resounding success that ended with a nice and early bedtime. Heres to tomorrow!
