My morning started dark and early at 3:30 in the morning for my first full watch with my new watch team, watch team 6(3). I enjoyed having all new people, including Charlie and Rachel as leaders, and Chloe, Emily, Liv, Matt, Teo, and Sam on my watch. I loved watching Emily and Teo yell at everyone because no one was talking. It has definitely been a big change-up, but I think we are already starting to get into the groove of things. I finally got to helm with the sails up, which is a lot harder. I definitely need more practice. I went back to bed at eight and had a fantastic nap until lunch. Afterwards, we had marine bio and seamanship. I was on the 2-6 watch, so I got to hang out on the deck after classes. I did more sail handling than I have this whole trip, sorry Shane. I got to go out on the bow sprit with Charlie and flake the jibs for the first time. It was really fun.
We also center-lined the staysails, took down the main sail, and then sheeted the staysails back out. It was nice to do some sail handling, even if it was to take some down and turn on the motor again. Some of the more verbal people on my new watch team decided that there will be no more nonverbal time during watches, or stoic silence, as Shane likes to put it. Thats going to take some getting used to. After a nice chill rest of watch, we had supper. This was one of my favourite meals I have had this whole trip. Thank you, Amelia, Matt, and everyone else who helped cook.
I hope everyone at home is doing well. I miss you all and am excited to be on my way back to you as you read this. Much love!
