What’s up, sports fans (my dad says this).
Today was another awesome day on passage. The group gathered at 12:00 for a great lunch of chicken wraps cooked by Zoe, Sam, and Jo. We smashed through clean-up in a rapid fashion so everyone could get ready for Vela’s 2nd equator crossing ceremony of the trip. The students offered their sacrifices: some of art, some of song, some of hair. My personal favourite was an incredible meal (bribe) of meatballs and sauce made by Tougy and Noa. They filled that meal with love, and the council approved!!!
Afterwards, we got all cleaned up and watched team 2 hold it down on watch while the others went about their afternoon errands.
Mac and I have been deep diving into the cruising guides and local knowledge of Raja Ampat. We plan the program way ahead of this, but as new resources become available, it’s always great to see what’s going on and if we can improve the plan even more. Mac focuses more on anchorages and sailing routes, whereas I focus more on dive sites and shore activities.
We are all super excited for Indonesia and can’t wait to get in amongst it.
— on a less “trip loggy” note: the energy on board has been awesome. We obviously miss the old 40-day students (if you’re reading this, you guys were the bomb), but the new group has integrated really well. Everyone seems to be doing solid, and anyone reading this should be proud of their person on Vela because this group is incredible —
