Hello all!
Today started with a wonderful wake-up, by yours truly, of course. However, most were already up and at ’em as our first test was approaching, and everyone seemed to have forgotten everything we’d learned in Marine Bio already! Stress levels were at an all-time high, but a yummy breakfast of chia seed pudding and fresh fruit was enough to ease the nerves. After the crew was full, we had our first marine biology exam!! Relieved that it was over, we enjoyed the last lecture of our first two oceanography units and are now preparing for our… you guessed it, the first oceanography exam! The gang finished up classes and was met by a yummy veggie curry lunch! (Thank you, Steph!) Following clean-up, we were off to our “Low Tide Lab,” which consisted of hours on hours of snorkeling, hiking, iguana spotting, and a barefoot adventure that may or may not have consisted of lots of thorns. After sightings of eagle rays, sea turtles, crabs, octopus, and so many other incredible things, we returned to the boat to get ready for our beach BBQ! Everyone was insanely excited about the lobster and chicken wing dinner waiting for us on the other side of the island. After a short, gorgeous sunset walks, we arrived at Neils, who made an incredible meal for the crew. After the muck of the trip, we returned with bellies full and smiles all around.
I am so grateful for another amazing day here on Ocean Star and cannot wait for the days to come!
I miss all of you back home in Colorado and Maine! Until next time!
