Location: St Pierre, Martinique
We woke early this morning for a 6:30 breakfast of cereal and yogurt. We were all onshore by 08:00 to meet Alfred and taxi to our starting point at the base of Mt Pelee. The hike was awesome, and the fog was thick. There were small rain showers randomly as we climbed, but they only cooled us down as we reached the summit. We walked through and around the crater of the volcano and were definitely tired afterwards. We had “shoretime” once we returned for the hike and a lot of us used the time to explore the town of St Pierre and get some food. After our dinner of Spanish rice and cornbread, we had MTE class. A little highlight of the night was watching as the whole town of St Pierre blacked out with a loss of power and then suddenly lit back up.
