Location: Almost Half Way to Mauritius
Helmlo all, This morning, I helmed for the entire 4 am-8 am watch. This has been done before, but from here on out, taking on this task signifies a metamorphosis into our true helming potential. Our Helmsonas. Last night at 12:00 am, Philip became the Helmlich maneuver. Today at 12:00 pm, Amanda M. Became Helmnibal Lectermore helmsonas to come. The possibilities are endless, and it is easier to think of names than to stop.
I look forward to every watch. We sail, do boat checks every hour, brave the weather, drink tea, eat ramen and other snacks, play music, play podcasts, talk, listen, laugh, tell stories, stargaze, cloud gaze, stare at Argos beautiful rigging, and watch the incredible creatures that surround us in the abyss.
Sometimes, the captain comes up to impart his wisdom. What more could a sailor ask for? I dont even mind sleeping athwartship or having them take my porthole or anything anymore. Lots of homework this week. An eventful head chef day bought me another 18 days of peace. My newfound baldness has proven delightful, thanks in no small part to the support from the rest of the Argonauts. According to Captain Tomer, We have managed to sail over 3000 nautical miles while remaining just 4% over the actual distance. The dubious starboard heads, dubbed by me and travis the starboard 2 have become the funniest thing for miles. They are still out of order. The cycle of watch, meals, and classes (which are full of decaying rat smell, faulty HDMI connections that give out with each rock of the ship, and pots and pans clanging in the cabinets) continue, and it is very good. To all my friends on land, I miss you, and I hope it is going well. In case you havent heard, our new watch teams for this leg of the trip are as follows Watch team 1: Gabe, Meg, Philip, Ava, Juliette, Amanda M. Watch team 2: Kackie, Ben, Hannah, Ali, Bodhi, Kiley Watch team 3: Allie, Will, Charlie, Drazka, Travis, Ainsley Todays squeeze question: If you could take one thing off Argo and take it home, what would it be? Lots of people chose the wheel. I would take the doormat in the chart house. Sentimentally yours, Duke Helmington Update: Shockingly, the error went down to 3% after our helmsman initiations. Also, the Starboard 2 is back in business.
