Location: Roseau, Dominica

We arrived at Roseau about 8 hours early, which was nice. While the students put the boat to bed and started their first BA, I went ashore to clear in. It’s like a 20-minute walk to the ferry terminal where Customs and immigration are. It took about an hour this time, for some reason, for the customs officer to look through all the boat paperwork and passports, but she cleared us in and out, which was nice, so I didn’t have to go back to clear out. After that, I went to the grocery store to do some provisioning for the boat. I got it done in about an hour but then got told that the store’s card machine was down, while I had two full shopping carts to check out with and not enough cash. I called the boat, where we faced our next hurdle. I talked the staff onboard through how to open our 30-year-old, who was extremely hard to open, dial safe, and get cash out. Once they got it open, Meg brought me cash, and we finally left the store. Meg got some ice cream, which she shared with me during the taxi ride back to the dock. That night, Allie made Thanksgiving. Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, instant stuffing, homemade pumpkin bread, and canned cranberries. My absolute favorite meal that we do. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.
