Location: Kuata

This morning, we woke up early to hike to the summit of Kuata. It felt nice to stretch our legs on land and hike up and up until we made it to a clearing overlooking the ocean. Argo sat below us, probably the farthest away we’ve been from her in the past ten days. With the sun just coming up, we pulled out breakfast and had some yummy chia seed pudding on top of the mountain. What a way to start the morning.

After we hiked down the mountain, we washed our muddy legs in the water and made our way back to Argo. With our first overnight passage coming up tomorrow, we went through the ins and outs of a boat check. Then, the afternoon rolled around, and I went into dive mode. Emily, Austin, Spencer, and Casey went for a snorkel on the nearby reef while Elanore, Lexy, Maverick, Iain, Olivia, Mathilda, Sidney, and William went over knowledge reviews for their Underwater Navigation dive. We went to a reef we hadn’t visited before that was absolutely gorgeous! Beck and Lainey hopped in the water to do some Divemaster skills with Steph.

After a lovely nav dive, during which they practiced their compass and natural navigation skills around big coral heads and sandy valleys, we jumped into passage prep on Argo to get her ready for tomorrow. The sail covers are off, jacklines run, and halyards are on. We’re coming, Kadavu!
