Location: Raja Ampat
Today was a workaholic’s dream, the day started off as any other – a quiet sunrise in a secluded bay, the birds were out and chirping, and the water was calm, yet everyone decided to sleep. As skipper for the day it was my job to interrupt this, the wake-ups started with a pole prod to give everyone a chance to come too and get up, if this didn’t work for the very sleepy individuals the crashing pots and pans that followed 20 minutes later definitely did. After a breakfast of overnight oats, we broke into groups to prepare the boat for our passage. While some removed the sail covers, others braved into the laz at the stern. Those individuals’ sacrifices will be remembered. Anda and Kat were selected to provision and left after breakfast on a speed boat to collect supplies before passage. Once the boat was prepped most of the day had flown by, thanks to everyones work we were able to walk on shore for a a bit enjoying our last time on land for the next five days, while some enjoyed the view of the black tip reef sharks from the dock watching them wade though a sea of fish parting a path through them like snow plows others enjoyed the beach soaking up the water and sun. Arden, Joshua and I went on a little hike up a mound to a view point to experience the breath taking views of Raja Ampat, from there we saw the black tips from above the reefs and island that surround our anchorage as well as the storms rolling on in the distance which will serve as subtle foreshadowing for the conditions to come. Once everything had wrapped up on shore we got ready to leave and stared motoring to the arches which guarded our anchorage, from then on it was motoring though storms and sun the weather was tempermental and remains so as of writing this blog. as for now we sign of on day 22 /day 62.
