Location: Salt Island, BVI

Hi guys, Katherine; here is my official last blog. Today was an interesting day.

Today, I started the day by taking my nav test. After around two hours, I was the last person on the boat to complete it.

The rest of the gang split up into two groups to either go diving into a shipwreck or go on the beach. The shipwreck we dove is called the RMS Rhone. It was the first of England’s “unsinkable” ships but shared the same fate as its more famous counterpart. It is a super well-preserved shipwreck, with a separate shallow stern section and deeper bow section. You can see the propeller, masts, huge parts of the ship, and even the captain’s teaspoon left behind.

Currently, we are on an uninhabited island. It is very beautiful, and there’s a little Salt Lake. When we weren’t diving, we explored the island, including the cemetery of those who died in the shipwreck. We hiked up to the Atlantic side of the island and watched the waves hit the cliffs. Then we had lunch.

After lunch, I was in the diving group with Nadia, Rhianna, Max, Robert, and Zoe. The shipwreck was massive, over 100 ft, and it was a deep dive of around 70 to 75 feet. Large pillars came out of the sky and looked like you were in ancient Roman ruins. There is lots of coral growth on the whole shipwreck. There were quite a few large fish there as well.

After the dive, the rescue divers Owen, Jaxson, Rhianna, and William had an emergency scenario where they rescued Ben and Zoe. It was very entertaining to watch William Try to calm Zoe down in the water as she splashed water on his face. The rescue divers both calmed down a panicking Zoe and found a missing diver underwater, Ben, and brought him safely to the surface. I flew my drone for a bit and got some cool footage of the boat. After that, a lot of us worked on our research papers as they were due very soon. During dinner, we saw a rainbow. Excited for these last few days in paradise
