Today’s adventures were split into two groups: the first group was the open water group, and the second group was on the boat for most of the day, learning new skills. The open water went to a dive shop to do their confined dives. For most of the group, it was their first time taking a breath underwater and a moment that they will most likely never forget. The confined dive took about six hours, with Steph and Jake teaching everyone. While the open water was learning how to drive the dinghies. At noon, the group that was on the boat came to the dive shop to have lunch and to do their swim test. The swim test was 20 laps in the pool, followed by 10 minutes of treading water. After that, the open-water’s continued learning, and the other group returned to the boat to help Tom get dinner, read, and have some free time. The open water group got done with the dive around 3, and then they did their swim test. To get back to the boat, we all took water taxis that took 15 to 20 minutes. The ride was a lot of fun, and everyone enjoyed the ride. On return to the boat, the open water group all jumped in the ocean for the first time on the trip, swimming around for a good hour. After most, the group took their first on-deck showers. Dinner was all laughing and smiling with an amazing meal Tom and the sous chefs made for everyone. Following dinner, we will have an introduction to the leadership class. Tonight will be our first anchor watch, which many are looking forward to.
