Location: Underway to Richard's Bay
Hello readers,
Underway again – I just can’t wait to get underway again – The life I love is sailing Argo with my friends, oh I just can’t wait to get underway again
Day 61, and the first full day back underway. Land-mester brought a different feeling to our adventure, and while it was a really good time, it felt right to be back. All it took was one watch to get me back into the good routine of passage. I am now on watch team two, and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to be on every watch team. I am excited about even more watches. Last night, the moon was so bright that you could hardly look at it, and I was reminded of the bright winter nights back home in Salt Lake City, where they had their first snowfall. Waking up in the morning underway sometimes feels kind of sad. I don’t know why. I do know that the moment I come up on deck, I start feeling better, even more so this morning, because we learned that the port heads are back online! Today, the sun glimmers so warmly, and the sea is so calm and glassy that life feels like a childhood memory or like we all died and ended up somewhere else. Truly, it is eerily smooth.
Today, after oceanography, half of us, including Travis, Drazka, Ava, Philip, Bodhi, and I, take a practice exam for nav master. Everyone else will be taking it the day after tomorrow. Ainsley’s lunch was a smoothie bowl, and it was so refreshing and delicious. After dinner, Hannah and Ava threw another Diva-off for Ben’s birthday.
Now that the amount of days left is under 30, it feels as though the finish line is sprinting towards us. Time is the guy who, when you’re repelling, just keeps throwing more rope. We will soak it up until the very end.
All heads are back online!
In case you hadn’t heard, new watch teams as of yesterday:
Watch Team 1:
Gabe, Meg, Bodhi, Travis, Juliette, Kiley
Watch Team 2:
Kackie, Ben, Charlie, Hannah, Amanda M, Drazka
Watch Team 3:
Allie, Will, Philip, Ali, Ainsley, Ava
Today’s squeeze: make a wish and ruin the previous person’s wish monkey paw style.
As we motor on towards Richards Bay on our last major passage, I wonder, where could they be? All the dishes we lost to the sea. I cannot wait for the safari.
Happy birthday, Ben! You are truly someone to look up to, and your energy, humor, kindness, and effort carry this crew almost as much as Argo herself. I hope you enjoyed the midnight apple crumble.
Sincerely, Charlie M.
