Location: English Harbour, Antigua
Today everyone had another full day to explore English Harbour and the surrounding area. Following a morning Oceanography class on Pollution, everyone took advantage of the easy access to the dock and headed off in different directions. With today being Sunday and nearly everything being closed, Nelson’s dockyard was a great place to get away. You could just feel the history in your surroundings as you wandered around the rustic cottages and boathouses. In the early evening, we set out to our dinner and night out at Shirley Heights, where every Sunday, they throw a huge BBQ and party on this amazing hilltop overlooking the Harbour. We hiked up the mountain to the sounds of Halcyon, a local steel drum band. When we arrived, we watched the sunset and then got our dinner and followed Simon’s lead to sit on the rooftop to watch all of the people having a great time. After dinner, we danced to a reggae band that led the party into the night. All in all, this was an amazing day.
