Location: English Harbour, Antigua
Today everyone had another full day to explore English Harbour and the surrounding area. Following a morning Oceanography class, on Pollution, everyone took advantage of the easy access to the dock and headed off in different directions. With today being Sunday and nearly everything being closed, Nelson’s dockyard, was a great place to get away. You could just feel the history in your surroundings as you wander around the rustic cottages and boat houses. In the early evening we set out to our dinner and night out at Shirley Heights where every Sunday they throw a huge BBQ and party on this amazing hill-top overlooking the Harbour. We hiked up the mountain to the sounds of Halcyon, a local steel drum band. When we arrived we watched the sunset and then got our dinner and followed Simon’s lead to sit on the rooftop to watch all of the people having a great time. After dinner we danced to a reggae band that leads the party into the night. All in all this was an amazing day.
