Location: Falmouth Harbour, Antigua
Today was our first full day back in Antigua after arriving yesterday morning. It’s so crazy to be back! It feels like just yesterday (72 days ago) the students first arrived in Antigua. And now, we are in the final days of the program. To start the day, we completed two surprise rescue scenarios as the final test to becoming a rescue diver. Even Meg, a dive instructor from Vela, joined us for additional rescuing chaos. In the scenarios, we practiced all sorts of medical and diving emergencies, such as surfacing an unresponsive diver, providing CPR, administering O2 for an asthma attack, and packing a wound from an axe injury. The students all did great in handling the chaos. Afterward, the students enjoyed a bit of shore time. Most went to the beach, but Hannah and Zoe used the time to rent a dinghy and sail around the harbor for a few hours.
Meanwhile, Ben and I sat in a cafe to grade the last assignments of the semester! It’s very exciting to be practically done with all the schoolwork now so we can focus on Classics. Once we were done grading, we walked over to Nelson’s Dockyard to catch a glimpse of our competition later this week. The boats are beautiful, and we are very excited to get O Star on the dock next to them! In the evening, we also completed the last round of NavMaster Exams!!
