Location: St. Barths

Good evening to all the readers at home! Today, just like every day at Sea|mester, was jam-packed with activities. However, I am just going to mention a few highlights that gave our staff a good laugh today. First and foremost, we were presented with a petition today, signed by every student, requesting a sign-out night on St. Barth’s. Somehow, the students got into their heads that a sign-out night was not going to happen on this island (this never happened). Thus, we were petitioned for a sign-out night. Here are their reasons:
– We really want to 🙂
– St Barts (spelled incorrectly) will have iconic nightlife that we need to experience
– This might be our only chance
– Want to experience French culture
– Practice French
– Meet ppl & make connections
– Memories
– Perfect time in the voyage
– It’s St Barts (spelled incorrectly again)
– We are docked, so no night watch (not necessarily true)
– We can try French food
– Bonding w/ other crew members
– Meet other tourists
– Experience French nightlife

Here are their promises to us if they were allowed to go:
– We will be VERY responsible
– We will make curfew (early)
– We will respect the staff and locals there
– We will be EXTRA attentive and even more helpful on board
– WORSHIP GABE FOR ALL TIME/IN PERPETUITY

Despite the fact that they were going to get a sign out night either way, the petition brought us great joy (yet if they weren’t going to get a sign out night, the petition wouldn’t have changed it anyway).

For the second highlight of our day, we look towards the Animal Design Department. Now, the Animal Design Department is a squeeze question we concocted back before students were on board, and is as follows: Imagine you work for a company that designs new planets. Within that company, you specifically work for the department that designs new animals for each planet, thus the Animal Design Department. We, as staff, believe this is a vital question to the function of our vessel, as the design of your animal shows a lot about who you are (what it shows, I do not know, but it shows something). Here are some fantastic animals that were designed tonight: A moose that lives on the bottom of the ocean and walks the sea floor, but its legs grow based on the depth it is at, and it can use its antlers as propellers, aka a tall moose that walks in the ocean. Pygmy hippos expand like balloons to the actual size of hippos, but they float off the ground as they expand and use their feet to paddle through the air and their tails as propellers. Flying sting rays that sleep hanging from trees by their tails and land on trees by wrapping their tails around and swinging in circles until they slow down. A duck with moose hooves and antlers that is the size of Mt. Everest. Saltwater frogs that migrate up and down tropical rivers are like salmon. Seals that don’t have fins or a tail but instead have arms and bounce around on land to move. Chipmunks the size of Shaq. And many, many more fantastic animals. Now the question is, how much are all of these animals going to cost the Animal Design Department? What is our budget? My answer to you is: don’t ask those questions, as they are too advanced for our brains.

All in all, it was another fantastic day on Sea|mester, with many more to come!
