Location: Mountain Point, VIrgin Gorda
Hi! My name is Weston. I’m 18, and I was the skipper on the boat for today, which means that tonight (or today, depending on when you’re reading this), I’ll be your tour guide through what happened on board!
We started pretty early; wake up is normally at 7, but we raised anchor from Savannah Bay and were off by 6 am. After an hour-ish of sailing, we arrived at our first destination for the day: The Baths. It’s the third area that we’ve sailed to, with super clear water and incredible rock formations, creating caves to walk through. Going through the rocks and the caves was a tight squeeze, but it was worth it for the relaxation on the beach and the rock jumping we were able to do.
After a couple of hours there, we all swam back to the dinghies that brought us back onto the boat, where we swiftly departed to get to Mountain Point, our next anchorage, and where we spent the night. We motored on over for a few hours, having lunch along the way, then dropped anchor to start our afternoon activities. People getting their Open Water Diver certifications went on their first actual open water dives! At night, they take their final exam, and once they do a couple more dives, they’ll be fully certified divers! Anyone who already had it or wasn’t getting it spent the afternoon wakeboarding! We loaded up a group of us onto a dinghy that spun us around the area while we took turns wakeboarding, water skiing, and knee boarding (a very fun time). Afterward, we settled in for a truly nutritious and delicious dinner of cut-up hotdogs with pasta and Alfredo sauce. Finishing that, people who had watch that night got set up, and everyone else went to sleep.
That was our day! It was really fun and so cool to see so many different parts of the BVI in one swoop. Everyone was so tired by the end of it, but it was a really great time. Bye!
