Location: Charlestown, Nevis
Today greeted us with a rainbow during the already picturesque sunrise over the island. Post breakfast, which included wonderfully crafted pancakes by Miranda and Margret, the shipmates were treated to the privilege of both Seamanship and Marine Biology lessons. Carolyn covered anchoring and vessel management while Steve, in his quest to demonstrate science isn’t all good news, showed the unfortunate effect of red tides on manatees.
Once all the lessons were complete for the day, they were dropped off in Charlestown for lunch on shore and an afternoon exploring the island. Mari and Margret kindly offered their time ashore in assisting Tina with provisioning for the next chapter of our journey. Charlestown proved to be a cute, colorful town filled with lovely people while we aimlessly explored the best that Nevis had to offer.
This evening marks our first evening out at a wonderful restaurant called Sunshine. Today was a much appreciated day of a little bit of R’n’R before our adventures of horseback riding, kayaking and biking tomorrow.
