Today marked our last full day on Argo. As we woke up, there was reflective energy in the air, and we all were excited to end the trip on a high note. We started off the day with a delicious breakfast of crepes and fresh fruit, which Maddie spent hours making in the galley. We then broke into cleanup and began our final Boat Appreciation. The cabins went from a homey yet chaotic hot mess to being spick and span. We removed rust stains (one of my favorite activities) for the remainder of the morning, and another team cleaned up down below. After a quick afternoon break, we returned to Argo for our final squeeze.
As everyone spoke about their favorite moments on the trip, I may have shed a few tears (okay- more than a few) hearing everyone’s beautiful responses. I was so proud to hear about everyone’s personal growth, and it was so valuable to take time to reflect on my transformation aboard Argo. To finish off the trip, we had a group dinner out, and then we rented out a private karaoke room and spent the night singing some Argo classics while reminiscing. Every single person here has impacted me positively, whether it be from having a great watch together, working on a group project, or doing galley karaoke. I have learned so much from each person, and I know I will remember my time aboard Argo with lifelong friends for the rest of my life. Not many people get to cross the Pacific aboard a sailboat, much less with people so close they could be family. I am incredibly grateful for all of the staff and students, who put in 110% every day to make sure Argo operates. When I embarked upon this journey, I knew my life would be changed- I just never could have predicted how much and how positively. To all the past, future, and especially current students, I would like to thank you for fostering such a unique sense of community. It’s been an amazing 80 days, and I can’t wait to see where life leads everyone next.
Signing off for the last time,
